Jo Sinclair

My style is contemporary expressionism, but what’s important to me is simplicity, atmosphere, colour good drawing and composition.

I paint in watercolour, acrylic and oil, and love to draw. I am have been passionate about art all my life. I studied graphic design and illustration at Bath Academy of Art and Cooper Union New York. After graduating went into teaching, where I developed a special interest in aspects of literacy.

I am currently joint chairperson of Bishop’s Stortford Art Society, where our general aim is to provide a supportive, informative community for local Artists whatever level. We are celebrating our 90th year as a society this year. I have been a member for most of my adult years.

In my watercolours here, I have chosen to portray views of Bishops Stortford which has been my home town for almost my whole life. These views have stayed pretty constant throughout the many changes to Bishops Stortford.

My acrylic paintings are quite direct and I like to use paint expressively. My favourite subjects are landscapes, portraits and cityscapes. I also love to draw figures. Check out my work at www.josart.co.uk
