Peter Morffew
Born in 1956, Dulwich London. I have drawn and painted for as long as
I can remember; always feeling a need to paint, especially when
something catches my eye. I am a self taught artist working in Oil’s,
Egg Tempera, Watercolour, Pastels, Gouache and Acrylic.
I am
inspired by Turner’s watercolours and oil’s, Andrew Wyeth’s Egg Tempera
painting’s, Rowland Hilder’s loose atmospheric watercolours and Degas
pastel paintings. I also like Japanese and Chinese prints as well as
Moghul Art which I found a liking for when I backpacked around India and
Sri Lanka.
My paintings have been in several one man exhibitions, numerous local exhibition’s. Exhibitions held by the Bishops Stortford Art Society; Harlow Art Society and the Chelsea Art Society. Also my paintings have been accepted and short listed for the Royal Academy’s Annual Summer Exhibition.
I paint a variety of subjects including wild life, landscapes, seascapes, river and lake scenes and inspired abstract art. But I find myself coming back to New Zealand scenery, having fallen in love with this fantastic country after two back packing trips.
