Barbara Taylor

I have always enjoyed Art, but it was after retirement that I began Printmaking, which I find still quite exciting, That moment the Printing Press has covered your work and you see the results. So satisfying.

I attended the Curwen Studio in 2011 to gain a Certificate in Printmaking. Stanley Jones a Master Printmaker and Chloe Cheese (daughter of Bernard Cheese and Sheila  Robinson both part of the Bardfield Set ) were Judges and Teachers, as was Sue Jones. I participated in all three terms.

The course covered all aspects of Printmaking including Screen print, Collograph, Linocut, Etching and Mono printing. I attended other workshops to discover other techniques in Woodcut, Solar Plate,Cyanotype and Letterpress.

I have exhibited my work in Bishop’s Stortford, Cambridge, Worksop and Saffron Walden.

Printmaking is a most enjoyable activity, my inspiration springs from my garden, being out and about and travel. I take masses of photographs and sketch before choosing which technique to give my chosen  subject.

To see work of the Great Bardfield Set, visit the Fry Gallery in Saffron Walden.
