Hilary Brice
I am a completely self taught artist, no formal training. As a young girl I worked in shop display for a large department store. All the price tickets and signs were hand painted in those days. So I developed a love of calligraphy and brush lettering, which in turn led to painting. I mainly work in pastels, but recently got into coloured pencil work, which I really enjoy. These can be used in conjunction with pastels for detailed work. Belonging to Bishop’s Stortford Art Society is very inspirational, with demos in different mediums and working evenings. It is a pleasure to meet like minded people and see the range of techniques used. I would recommend anyone with an interest in art to come and join.
